This document outlines, in broad terms, the priorities and plans of the IARLJ Americas Chapter over the next several years. The document highlights the key areas of the IARLJ Americas Chapter's activities as dictated in its governing instruments.

The IARLJ Americas Chapter, the newest regional chapter of the IARLJ, was formally established at its founding meetings in Washington, D.C., on August 21, 2004. The IARLJ Americas Chapter has had its governing instruments ratified by the IARLJ Executive. Since its founding meeting the IARLJ Americas has been active in a number of areas.

Activities and Plans 2004 - 2006

Since the IARLJ Americas Chapter's founding meeting in Washington, D.C., on August 21, 2003, it has achieved a number of milestones that have not only benefited the Association, as a whole, but to refugee and asylum law judges and decision-makers within the Americas, in particular. The IARLJ Americas Chapter has accomplished these milestones by staying firmly fixed on its fundamental purpose as a Regional Chapter within the IARLJ.

Costa Rica (San Jose) report June 2004

We have just returned from beautiful San Jose, Costa Rica, and our historic first IARLJ Americas Chapter Conference, that was held in the magnificent club Union, in downtown San Jose. I am pleased to report that our first Americas regional conference and workshop were a great success. The IARLJ Costa Rica Conference, from beginning to end, exceeded everyone's expectations.
